Salary Increases for Research Assistants Employed by the Research Foundation

As part of the union-negotiated Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Research Foundation of SUNY and the Communications Workers of America, Local 1104, all graduate student Research Assistants who are on the payroll at the beginning of the 2014-2015 academic year will receive an automatic $250 increase in their annual salary. The increase is across the board for all RAs and is above and beyond whatever pay rate is in effect at the time of the increase. For the 2015-16 academic year, no automatic salary increase is currently scheduled for RAs though this is subject to further negotiation based on Sponsored Research performance.

The Graduate School is developing plans to gradually increase the minimum graduate student stipend from the current rate of $17,145 to approximately $20,145 by 2018. While these plans are not yet definite, we urge those preparing proposal budgets to request annual increases in a commensurate fashion.
