Prepare and Submit Your Proposal

Prepare and Submit Your Proposal

Once you have identified a funding opportunity and formed a research team, there are several tools to help you develop your proposal.

After you have developed a proposal, you have to submit it through COEUS. This system will route the proposal to the respective chairs/deans/directors for approvals. The proposal then will route to the Office of Sponsored Programs which checks for compliance with all university and sponsor policies and finally signs off and submits the package on behalf of the research team. Sponsored Programs must receive the proposal at least five business days before the sponsor deadline to allow for timely submission and adequate time to fix errors and submit to sponsors.

A proposal consists of the sponsor-required components:

  • Cover Page/Face Page
  • Table of Contents
  • Abstract/Project Summary
  • Project Narrative/Description
  • Budget and Budget Justification
  • Biosketches
  • References Cited
  • Facilities and Resources
  • Data Management Plan/Resource Sharing Plan
  • Current and Pending Support
  • Compliance Documents

Additionally, the campus needs the following information for each proposal:

Budget Tools:

You may use the Budget Worksheet Template to develop the budget. You will need to know the current applicable Facilities and Administrative (F&A/IDC) rates and fringe benefit rates to plug in to the budget template.
