At this time CVB employs full-time more than 130 Malagasy citizens, ranging from community outreach coordinators and field guides to kitchen and maintenance staff. In addition, CVB has supported the creation of a women’s weavers group, which markets handmade silk scarves, a men’s medicinal plants group that markets local medicinal plants, a group of metalsmiths making homegoods such as knives, shovels, and hoes, a group making essential oils from ravy tsara and jasmine grown local in the region, a group producing a sustainable green charcoal, and over eight other community led groups.
