Clinical Assistant Professor - Full Time Southampton and Stony Brook Campus

Required Qualifications

Applicants must have a Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, or have earned a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy along with an earned professional Master's degree in a related field.  All candidates must be New York State licensed occupational therapists or be eligible for a New York State occupational therapy license.   Candidates must hold current certification by NBCOT.  Applicants must have at least one year of higher education teaching experience in an occupational therapy program and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in at least one of the following areas: adult rehabilitation, acute care, hand therapy, TBI rehabilitation, or pediatrics.  All qualified applicants will be invited to present a 20 minute presentation as part of the interview process, with the topic to be discussed with the Chair of the Search Committee prior to the interview date.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty certifications such as SIPT, NDT (adult, pediatrics, hand therapy, etc) or Public Health (etc).  Candidates with an earned research doctorate (PhD, EdD) or near completion (ABD) are strongly preferred as well as 3 or more years of adjunct teaching or as a faculty member in an OT program in a variety of occupational therapy subjects as theory based subject areas, as well as practice based subject areas, especially those pertaining to the special certifications (eg: hand therapy course, or prosthetic and orthotics course and the applicant holds CHT credentials).

Responsibilities & Requirements

Full time 12 month schedule.  Teaching duties that are to be split between the two campus sites, student advisements, committee service to the University.  Participation in program activities, such as, but not limited to: departmental meetings, participation in the admissions process, accreditation process, as well as other program activities and completing scholarly activities.  Faculty members must present themselves with strong written and interpersonal communication skills as well.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start Date: January 2018.
