Clinical Assistant Professor - Psychologist

Required Qualifications

PhD in clinical psychology from an APA accredited program.  Experience in behavioral treatment modalities and cognitive behavioral therapy.  New York State license or eligibility.  Full time availability.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical experience with short-term therapeutic interventions in an adult psychiatry outpatient program, an integrated primary care setting or a consultation and liaison psychiatry program.  Clinical experience with motivational therapy.  Track record of research and teaching/supervision experience.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth under a new President, Dean and Chair of Psychiatry. Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing behavioral health care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians and educators in a primary care setting. The program includes a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, primary care providers, social workers, RN care coordinators, and case managers who are all dedicated to providing comprehensive services to people in our community.

The Stony Brook University Department of Psychiatry is seeking an outstanding psychologist to become part of our growing integrated psychiatry program that delivers behavioral health care within multiple primary care settings. The Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychology will provide psychological evaluations, consultations, and short-term therapy to patients in an ambulatory medicine clinic in collaboration with primary care providers, the embedded psychiatrist, nurse practitioners, and social workers. There are also opportunities for teaching medical students, residents and fellows in both psychiatry and medicine. Shifts totaling 40 hours per week. There are also opportunities for clinical research involving the development and implementation of integrated care models.

Special Notes

This is a non-tenure track position.  FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.  Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible.
