General Anesthesia / Ambulatory Surgery Center – Assistant, Associate or Full Professor
Required Qualifications
MD or equivalent. Four years postgraduate training. Board Eligible/Certified in Anesthesiology.
New York State licensure or eligibility as a physician.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest, formal training and experience in general anesthesia, regional anesthesia,
sub specialty areas or in ambulatory care settings. Research experience. Academic
participation/contribution.
Responsibilities & Requirements
The successful incumbent will provide anesthetic care to patients undergoing surgical/diagnostic
procedures, obstetric delivery, etc. The selected candidate will be responsible for
providing consultation before and after the anesthetic management. He/she will also
be engaged in providing intensive care to surgical patients. The candidate will be
actively engaged in the instruction and/or supervision of medical students, resident
physicians and certified registered nurse anesthetists. He/she will also participate,
often in a leading role, in the departmental activities that pertain to undergraduate,
graduate and post-graduate education. An active role in clinical and/or basic research
will be strongly encouraged. Senior faculty will be expected to assume an important
role in the administrative aspects of the department, including the design of research
projects and the initiation of grant support, in addition to organizational aspects
related to the clinical and educational goals of the Department.
Special Notes
Tenure/Non-Tenure Track. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions
of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Anticipated Start
Date: As soon as possible. To qualify for appointment as an Associate Professor, the
candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Medicine (School of Medicine's Criteria for Appointment, Promotion and Tenure ).
