Interests: American Expansion and Industrialization, Animal History, Public Health and the Environment, and Alternative Forms of Resistance.
I research American conservation and its impact on non-human and human animals in the late 19th/ early 20th century. My current research looks at the golden age of the oyster industry of Long Island and how its growth eventually made the industry collapse in a spectacular fashion, destabilizing the public’s health, Long Island’s environment, and certain communities as it fell.
