Mark Fasciano, Managing Director, Canrock Ventures

Mark Fasciano is a Managing Director of Canrock Ventures, an early-stage technology venture fund. In 2009, Mark co-founded General Sentiment. This company provides market research technology (initially developed at Stony Brook University) that determines the public sentiment of any topic mentioned anywhere on the Internet. In 2008, Mark led the startup of Karma411. This online resource raises funds and awareness for important causes, including nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, and athletic programs.

Mark launched FatWire Software in 1996. As CEO for ten years, he transformed the company into a leading global Web Content Management software provider. The business currently boasts over $40 million in sales with 400 customers in nine countries around the world. FatWire’s customers include GM, Ford, Channel, JPMorgan Chase, Best Buy, Banco Santander, Allied Irish Bank, and Walmart.

In 2000, Mark won Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award. Mark serves on the boards of Overseas Military Sales Corporation, the United Way of Long Island, and the North Shore Land Alliance. In 2009-10, he chaired the Long Island chapter of Young Presidents’ Organization.

Mark graduated from Cornell University with degrees in English and Computer Science. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago’s Artificial Intelligence Lab. For his doctoral thesis, Mark built a system for planning and acting in uncertain worlds that was featured on PBS television. Mark lives with his amazing wife and wonderful three children in Port Washington, New York.
