Payment and Appeal Information
PAYING A PARKING TICKET: Parking tickets may be paid online through the Stony Brook Parking System or in person at the Student Financial Services Office (Suite 207, 2nd floor Stony Brook Union), Monday through Friday 9am - 12pm & 1pm - 4pm (closed 12-1). You may also mail payments to the following address:

Checks should be made out to "Stony Brook University Acct. No. 900819." Please include
the ticket number(s) on the check.
If full payment or an appeal is not submitted within 14 calendar days following the
date of issuance, this will be considered an admission of liability. Your vehicle
will be subject to immobilization or impoundment.
Under authority pursuant to Section 360 of the Education Law and Regulations published
under Part 584 et seq., of the Official Compilation of Codes, Rules, and Regulations
of the State of New York, the failure of a student to pay any fines due will prevent
release of transcripts, diplomas, or certificates of completion; reinstatement or
other sanctions. In the case of University employees, failure to pay will result in
the deduction of such fines from wages or salary due for state employees. RF employees
are subject to payroll holds. Failure of a visitor to pay any fines due will result
in proceedings under Law. Failure to resolve outstanding tickets may also result in
revocation of parking privileges, as well as the placement of enrollment holds on
your record. Delinquent tickets may be transferred to the New York State Attorney
General's Office or a private agency for collection.
BOOTS/TOWS: Release of any boots or tows can be obtained at Student Accounts, Student Union, 2nd fl, West Campus (631-632-9796) from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. After 4:00 pm contact University Police, Dutchess Hall, South Campus (631-632-3333).
PARKING TICKET APPEALS: Appeals must be submitted within 14 calendar days following the date of issuance.
Parking tickets can be appealed using the Stony Brook Parking System. Decisions are generally made within 2-4 weeks and notifications are sent using the
same email in which the appeal was received. If you do not receive a response within
4 weeks, please contact us at enforcement@stonybrook.edu.
TRAFFIC BOARD APPEALS: You may appeal the Hearing Officer's decision to the Traffic Appeals Board (TAB).
Written appeals submitted for consideration by the TAB must be filed within 14 days
of the date on which the hearing officer rendered a decision. Appeals received after
this date will not be accepted. Email Traffic_Appeals_Board@stonybrook.edu and submit the required written material to support your appeal. You will be informed
of the decision by email unless instructed otherwise. All decisions made by the Traffic
Appeals Board are final.
