Associate or Full Professor (climate/AI/quantum)
The Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University (SBU) seeks to hire a tenure track faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor level to begin in Fall 2025 with expertise in any field of chemistry. Candidates at the
Assistant Professor level will be considered if they are imminently prepared to apply
for promotion to Associate Professor. The applicant must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry
or a related field. Emphasis will be placed on candidates with an interest in and
overlap with Stony Brook University’s strategic priorities in the areas of climate,
artificial intelligence, and/or quantum information science. The new faculty member
is expected to have already established a vibrant, extramurally funded research program
and have a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Candidates should submit a cover letter, a detailed curriculum vitae, a concise description
of their research program and future plans, and a statement of teaching and mentoring
experience and interests. Highlighting complementarity, synergy, and fit with ongoing
research activities at Stony Brook University and the Chemistry Department is encouraged.

Instructional Support Technician Position (SL-3)
The Department of Chemistry is looking for an Instructional Support Technician. The
Instructional Support Technician is the chemist who is responsible for technical support
services for the Organic and/or General Chemistry instructional laboratories and other
laboratory courses, as may be appropriate. Over 1,000 undergraduate students enroll
in the introductory, organic, and physical laboratory courses every semester. The
success of our teaching program is critically dependent upon the staff member’s ability
to work with the faculty to prepare and evaluate experiments and to provide a laboratory
environment with functional instrumentation, accurately standardized reagents, and
adequate supplies for the scheduled experiments. Evening hours are required, and the
Instructional Support Technician needs to be flexible with the schedule. For the full
