    Courses and Requirements

    Academic Advisor:  assigned in student's area of interest before registration

    Academic Standing: maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all coursework

    Course Requirements: 15 approved graduate course credits, including at least 12 credits of CIV graduate courses

    Graduate School Application Checklist

    Note: Once you create an account, you can save and update your materials as often as necessary until you click the "Finalize Application" button.

    Application Status

    1. Once you click the "Finalize Application" button, your application is reviewed and a decision is made by the Civil Engineering Graduate Admissions Committee. The Slate portal will be updated.
    2. If your application is recommended for admission by CIV, it will proceed to the Graduate School for review and a final decision will be made. The Slate portal will be updated.
    3. Please continue to check the Slate portal for information on your application status and admission decision.
    4. Your application will be placed on hold and you will be notified if any action is required regarding transcripts, degree conferrals, test scores, and/or letters of recommendation.

    Due to the high volume of Fall applications, we kindly ask that you refrain from sending multiple emails or calling the department to check on the status of your application until after April 15. All offer letters will be sent electronically to the email address you provided in Slate. Please ensure that your application includes a correct and current email address. If you do not receive an offer letter or any notification by April 15, please feel free to contact the Acting Graduate Program Coordinator Malina Salman at malina.salman@stonybrook.edu.
