Lackmann Culinary Services Announces Contract Termination with Kosofresh

Stony Brook, NY, August 22, 2014 - Lackmann Culinary Services, Stony Brook University’s food service provider, is announcing changes in the subcontracting of the Jasmine dining facility. The subcontractor who operated Kosofresh Korean cuisine and Tavalon Tea abruptly and unexpectedly terminated their contract with Lackmann on Thursday, August 21, 2014.

To ensure a smooth transition, Jasmine will offer an expanded menu of Asian entrees and appetizers at the start of the semester. Lackmann is making arrangements for a new authentic Korean cuisine subcontractor to be in place by the end of September.

There will be no impact to the other operations at Jasmine, including Curry Kitchen Indian cuisine, Chinese, and sushi. The construction of the new tea bar with its own fusion menu will continue and open later this Fall.

Lackmann will continue to solicit feedback from students through surveys, focus groups, social media and Chattback texts to further enhance their dining experience.

One of the many dining improvements being made this year as a direct result of student feedback is the J-Club sit down restaurant at Jasmine now accepts meal plan. Students can enjoy an all you care to eat Asian buffet at the J-Club. This buffet option is available for lunch Monday through Friday from 11:30am-2:30pm. The menu rotates daily to offer variety to customers. The price is $11.95 which includes a beverage.

Additional updates about the Jasmine facility will be posted at www.stonybrook.edu/jasmine.
