10th Annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Global Accessibility Awareness Daybegan as an initiative to highlight the need for access to digital content and services for persons with disabilities. We welcome you to join in the conversation, and participate in one of the upcoming accessibility focused events. Thank you for doing your part to make Stony Brook accessible. 

SUNY GAAD Celebration: 

SUNY is holding a full-day event to Celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day. You can Registerto participate via Zoom. Topics will include: 

  • Ableism 
  • Universal Design for Learning 
  • Digital Accessibility 

Blackboard is hosting the "Fix your Content" Challenge

“Fix Your Content”is a global event to encourage faculty to increase the accessibility of the content posted in Blackboard. Ally can help to identify accessibility barriers, and then guide you to implement a solution. Celt has posted a helpful video on getting started usingAlly. If you don’t have access to Blackboard Ally, you can begin by enabling the AccessibilityCheckerin Microsoft Office. This videofrom CELT highlights several accessibility considerations that will be indicated by the accessibility checker

Upcoming Accessibility Drop in Session

Do you have a question about digital accessibility? Do you want to know how to make a document accessible? Do you have questions about closed captioning? Stop by a virtual accessibility drop-in session! 

Monday, June 7th from 10am – 11am: Zoom Registration for June 7
