Biochemistry and Structural Biology Ph.D.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to explain and apply the principles and fundamental areas of biochemistry and structural biology, including protein structure and function, and experimental methods to determine biomolecular structures.

2. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to develop and defend a proposal for a novel research project that would be suitable for submission to an extramural funding agency.

3. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to create an original piece of scientific scholarship that is suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.

4. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to explain, evaluate and argue issues regarding responsible conduct in research, including the rigor and reproducibility of data, authorship, and plagiarism.

5. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to communicate the significance and progress of their scientific research to a general audience.
