UNITI Cultural Center Building Highlights

A long standing campus facility and program that promotes cultural diversity and inclusion at Stony Brook University, the UNITI Cultural Center, or UCC opened in the Fall of 2021. The UCC offers all student ongoing opportunities to learn about our multicultural campus community, which is made up of people of different races, ethnicities, genders, religions, abilities, socio-economic statuses and other backgrounds.

  • A 3,500 square foot inclusive space with a multi-purpose lounge, study booths, a spacious conference room, meeting room, group study area and comfortable seating areas. 
  • Provides students the ability to relax, study, engage in a wide range of discussions and enjoy many cultural programs
  • Made possible by a New York State Grant initiated by Stony Brook alumnus Carl E. Heastie ‘90, Speaker of the New York State Assembly
  • The UCC builds upon Stony Brook’s current commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity while also reflecting the rich history of the African American and Latino experience at Stony Brook.
