We are Academic and Transfer Advising Services (ATAS) - your general academic advising team. We designed this New Transfer Student website to explain and guide your next steps as a transfer student. Below is the New Transfer Student timeline so you know what to expect from us and when. Then, for more specific information, use the menu bar on the left to access information about registration information sessions, submitting college and test transcripts, taking placement exams, and meeting with an adviser.

In addition to using this website, please be sure to frequently check your Matriculated Checklist in your portal and your email.

March through August

Your transcripts are being collected and evaluated for transfer credits. It takes several weeks for a transcript to be reviewed after it is received. Check your portal to see if additional transcripts or course syllabi are needed.

Registration Appointments

June through August

Your Matriculated Checklist, in your portal will let you know when you are eligible to meet with an adviser to make your first semester schedule. An email will be sent to your Stony Brook email and the email you provided when you applied to Stony Brook with your assigned Registration Appointment date and time.
