Faculty Positions – Emerging Energy and Environmental Challenges in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant/Associate Professor of Chemistry to start Fall 2014. Applicants should have a record of excellence in research and a commitment to teaching organic, inorganic, or physical chemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests focusing on emerging energy and environmental challenges. Cross-campus opportunities for collaborative research projects exist, Stony Brook has outstanding instrumentation in high field NMR spectroscopy, and the world-class National Synchrotron Light Source II soon will be operational at nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory. Candidates must have a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in chemistry, or a closely related field, and at least one year of postdoctoral experience.

Faculty Positions - Structural Biology (BioMolecular Imaging Cluster)

The Department of Chemistry at Stony Brook seeks to hire two tenure-track faculty members at the assistant or associate professor level to begin Fall 2014. In this round of recruitment, applications from candidates with expertise in Structural Biology using either high-field NMR spectroscopy or cryo-electron microscopy are particularly encouraged. Candidates must have a PhD from an accredited institution in biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, pharmacology, neuroscience or a closely related field, and at least two years postdoctoral experience. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in innovative research and have strong potential for being able to participate in the teaching mission of the department they join at undergraduate and graduate levels.
