Application Information

Summer program dates
Tuesday, May 27, 2025 – Friday, August 1, 2025
Application deadline
Applications are due on or before March 24, 2025.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

- Must be a SUNY undergraduate studentmajoring in a STEM field;
- Must be a first-generation college student or economically disadvantaged;
- Must have completed at least their freshman year; graduating seniors are not eligible (those receiving a bachelor’s degree in Spring 2025 or Summer 2025);
- Must be interested in one of the following Key Research Area: a) Artificial Intelligence; b) Microelectronics/Semiconductors; c) Biotechnology/Bioengineering; d) Quantum Information Science; or e) Climate and Sustainability. (If you have any questions about what research falls into these areas, please contact us.);
- A minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is recommended.
Previous research experience is NOT required.

In summary, this application requires:

- An official or unofficial transcript;
- The name and email address of a professional reference (after the application is submitted, references will be emailed an online reference form that is due on or before March 31, 2025);
- Written answers to four short answer questions.
- *NEW* If you provide the name of a specific mentor you'd like to work with, you will need to provide a written justification explaining how your research in their laboratory would align with one of the Key Research Areas. We recommend working with your research mentor on this justification.
Application timeline
- March 24, 2025: Applications close
- March 31, 2025: Reference forms due (forms are emailed directly to references upon the submission of the application)
- Late April: Program offers are sent
