Incubator Showcase - June 5, 2019
The 2019 Incubator Showcase will present to investors, government officials, attorneys, business services professionals, and the public, and will offer a glimpse at Stony Brook University's incubator companies and the technologies our entrepreneurs are bringing to the marketplace. This will be the fourth annual Incubator Showcase celebrating the entrepreneurial culture built here at Stony Brook University and the individual success of each company at every phase.

Boot Camp - June 5, 6 & 13, 2019
The Long Island Innovation Boot Camp was initiated at Stony Brook University to propel ideas past these barriers to new venture creation. The two and a half day event teams experienced patent attorneys, business professionals and MBA students with the researchers around whose patented technologies new companies might be built. The teams work hands-on through a series of modules structured to probe the commercial potential of a technology, ending with presentations to a panel of entrepreneurs and early stage investors. The researchers/inventors walk away with the answers to two threshold questions: Can this technology become a saleable product, and do I want to be the entrepreneur who builds a company around it?
Since its inception in 2008, the Boot Camp – the Long Island event of the Pre-Seed Workshop (www.preseedworkshop.com), originated by Mark Wilson and Judy Albers – has analyzed over sixty technologies with the help of more than 130 regional professionals, and assisted in the formation of numerous technology start-up companies on Long Island. The Boot Camp’s annual kickoff event is held in conjunction with the Long Island Technology Hall of Fame dinner every March to introduce the technology entrepreneurs of the future to their most successful predecessors.

CEO Incubator Roundtable Breakfast - April 11, 2019
Economic Development will host an Incubator CEO Round-table Breakfast on April 11 at 8:15am- 10:00am.
This meeting will host Mei Shibata, founder of ThinkEco, an Internet of Things startup in the energy space, and founder & CEO of Essense Partners, an award-winning global marketing agency in the energy industry. Mei will be talking about the importance of Branding your company and the role Marketing & Social Media takes in your company's success.
We will also be hosting Barry Shorten, co-founder of Alcott HR. Barry has been an advocate for small businesses and a pioneer in the HR outsourcing industry. He was instrumental in developing the professional employer organization (PEO) model, which provides an all-inclusive suite of human resource management services. He will be speaking about Start-ups and HR.
Hack@CEWIT - February 15-17, 2019
Now in its third year, Hack@CEWIT '19 will take place at the Center of Excellence Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University, on February 15-17, 2019, and is open to all undergraduate and graduate students in colleges and universities across the US and Canada.
A hackathon is a design-focused, sprint-like event in which designers and engineers collaborate intensively on software and hardware projects over a 36 hour period. These events aim to inspire current and future innovators, and this year’s event will prove to be a fun and enlightening experience. CEWIT’s industry partners and sponsors, such as Softheon and MTRC, will work to select scenarios that will have a direct, real-world application to their product portfolios.
This year's hackathon will primarily focus on Robotics, Internet of Things, Machine Learning, Big Data and Health Care, and challenges to advance enterprising, student-powered software solutions. Students will present their projects and the public is invited to attend on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Over the two days, the students will be able to work with industry and academic mentors, attend tech talk workshops, and compete for over $5,000 in prizes. Hack@CEWIT aims to inspire current and future innovators and will once again prove to be a fun and enlightening experience for all.
