Final Event

The final event, determining the top 3 winners of the competition, is set for Wednesday, February 7th, here at Stony Brook University. During the finals, we will showcase your original video and invite you to give a brief (3-minute) presentation on the featured scientist, along with the reasons behind your choice.

The final will be held on Wednesday, February 7th, from 4:00 - 6:00pm at Stony Brook University's Institute for Advanced Computational Science. Click here for directions!

The  format for the final is as follows:

  • Each team (whether individuals or groups) will be called to the stage (Laufer Center Auditorium) one by one.
  • The originally submitted video will be played.
  • Following the video, each team will give a 3-minute presentation elaborating on their choice of scientist, the experiment, and the personal impact of participating in the Challenge.
  • The presentation can be a PowerPoint, a poster, or any other desired format (as long as it is no longer than 3 minutes!)
  • If you need computer support, you will need to to send us your presentation so we can load it on the auditorium computer in advance.
  • We encourage you to bring the experiment showcased in the video or, at a minimum, discuss it.
  • After all presentations, the jury will deliberate. Participants will gather in the IACS seminar room for refreshments, and the winners will be announced.
