Patient Services Supervisor (SHH)

Position Summary

As part of a management team, the Patient Food Service Supervisor oversees the day-to-day supervision of the Production staff and the Patient services operations.  Weekend shifts are required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate 
  • Must have completed the 90/120-hour Dietary Managers course or demonstrated commensurate experience 
  • 3-5 years of related clinical or healthcare experience 
  • Supervisory experience with larger groups of employees to include scheduling, quality control, HACCP, employee training
  • Experience in a healthcare food service facility
  • Computer Literate
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible working hours and days
  • Knowledge of modified diet principles and safe, sanitary food handling techniques.  
  • Must have the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people. 
  • Must show confidentiality in the performance of duties
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English 
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA or BS in Nutrition or Food Management
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local codes and regulations pertaining to hospital food service
  • Knowledge of A la Carte/Room Service food operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Performance improvement experience
  • Union experience

Position Responsibilities

  • Opens and closes the department according to proper procedures
  • Responsible for work schedules and meetings with those employees under their direct supervision to maintain high standards.
  • Enforce proper food portioning at all times.
  • Coordinate daily meal preparation adhering to quality standards and establish time frames.
  • Meets with a.m. and p.m. supervisors to discuss and resolve any issues and change
  • Review supervisor logs daily for staffing concerns, equipment/production problems, and work assignment sheets.
  • Maintain department areas in a clean, neat, safe, and sanitary manner
  • Enforce departmental sanitation policy and procedures.  Ensure sanitation standards, safety, and infection control procedures as required by the various regulatory agencies.
  • Under government standards, check and document sanitation and cleanliness of all work areas, including pantries.
  • Enforce timeliness of patient tray services according to departmental policy.
  • Identify and make recommendations to improve patient meal service operation.
  • Ensure proper food handling procedures are being followed as outlined in HAACP.
  • Notify appropriate departments of malfunctioning equipment immediately upon observance.
  • Complete required departmental reports and records within the established time frame, including various quality control reports. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Physical Requirements & Environmental demands

  • Must be able to give and receive verbal communications continuously and read written communications continuously.
  • Able to compose written communication occasionally. 
  • Must be able to carry objects weighing 10-50 pounds or less as needed. 
  • Able to concentrate with little interruption continuously. 
  • Able to concentrate on moderate detail with some interruptions frequently.

Additional Details

  • FSLA Status: Exempt
  • Salary: $62,400
  • Schedule: varies 40+ hours (various days/various shifts) - Flexibilty is a MUST. Weekends and Holidays required.
