Position Summary

An ancillary employee who performs various cleaning tasks, maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in all Food Service areas.  This position may include dishwashing, pot washing, general sanitation, cleaning, and use of kitchen equipment.  May assist in the service and storage of food.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Position Responsibilities

Patient Care Activities:

  • Demonstrate ability to assess age-specific safety issues for pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Exhibit communication skills necessary to interpret age-specific responses for neonates/infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Adhere to organization-wide and department policies and procedures on Universal Precautions and Patient Isolation.
  • Transport food carts and other appropriate equipment to designated areas courteously and professionally, following departmental procedures.
  • Communicate any patient/resident-related problems to appropriate personnel.

 

Non-Patient Care Activities:

  • Operate and clean assigned equipment per department procedures.
  • Safely transport garbage and recyclable material to assigned areas.
  • Accurately deliver food and supplies to identified areas and clean as per departmental policy and procedures.
  • Maintain assigned departmental areas in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, local, and department sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, sanitary working environment in all department areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation with:
    • Food temperatures
    • Refrigeration temperatures
    • Personal hygiene (hand washing)
    • Use of gloves
    • Dating of food
  • Complete food temperature control logs as per the established protocol
  • Accurately inventory and maintain necessary supplies to ensure efficiency of operation.
  • Identify and utilize cleaning chemicals used in the department following directions recommended by manufacturers and per MSDS sheets.

Physical Demands

  • Exposure to chemicals, moving objects., wet and slippery floors
  • Must be able to see objects closely and far away and read continuously
  • Able to perceive depth continuously 
  • Must be able to hear routine sounds with background noise present.
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds rarely or up to 20 pounds frequently
  • Must be able to push/pull objects frequently
  • Must be able to perform motor skills such as bending, twisting, turning, reaching out/up, wrist turning/torquing, grasping, pinching, finger manipulation, feeling perception
  • Arm/hand and hand/eye coordination necessary
  • Must be able to sit and stand in place for long periods
  • Must be able to concentrate with constant interruptions
  • Must be able to give and receive verbal communications continuously, read written communications continuously, and compose written communication occasionally.

Additional Details

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $21.52 hourly

Schedule: between 2:00pm - 10:00pm or 4:00pm -10:00pm – Including Holidays and Weekends. Flexibility is a MUST - The schedule can vary between 2:00pm -10:00pm.
